Job summary

Oliver James is partnering with a well-capitalized Property & Casualty insurance carrier to identify a Senior Manager of Financial Reporting. This high-visibility role will lead external reporting, GAAP and statutory filings, and regulatory compliance.

You will direct close processes, collaborate with auditors, regulators, and executives, and drive automation and process improvements in reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• CPA certification is required.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience in P&C insurance.
• Deep knowledge of SAP/STAT statutory accounting and GAAP reporting.
• Experience preparing NAIC statutory filings.
• Proven leadership of accounting or financial reporting teams.
• Strong internal controls and external audit understanding.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with executives.

Responsibilities

• Lead preparation and review of quarterly and annual statutory (Yellow Book) and GAAP statements.
• Ensure NAIC reporting compliance and applicable accounting standards.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes for financial reporting.
• Manage relationships with external auditors, regulators, and stakeholders.
• Mentor and develop the financial reporting team.
• Collaborate with Accounting, FP&A, Actuarial, Treasury, Reinsurance, and Leadership on initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA Required
• 10+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience within the Property & Casualty insurance industry.
• Deep knowledge of statutory accounting principles (SAP/STAT) and GAAP reporting.
• Experience preparing and reviewing NAIC statutory filings.
• Prior leadership experience managing and developing accounting or financial reporting teams.
• Strong understanding of internal controls and external audit processes.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to interact confidently with executive leadership.
• Experience leading process improvement or finance transformation initiatives is highly desirable.
