Job summary

Amgen is seeking a Manager, External Engagement to lead seamless operations across media relations, social, and digital communications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and agency partners to support Amgen’s external engagement initiatives.

The role sits remotely in the U.S. with East Coast hours preferred, reporting to the Executive Director, External Engagement. A strong background in public relations and digital storytelling is required to impact high-profile campaigns.

Qualifications

• Doctorate or equivalent in a related field is required.
• Experience in public relations and/or communications and/or journalism is required.
• Proven track record in leading external engagement, media relations and digital campaigns.

Responsibilities

• Support media relations, social media and digital channels in day-to-day operations.
• Supervise the Corporate Affairs review process to ensure compliance and training.
• Distribute Amgen global press releases.
• Prepare reports on media, social and digital performance.
• Manage external engagement vendors and contracts.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and executives.
• Lead external engagement metrics and reporting across channels.
• Develop briefing materials and integrated engagement plans as needed.
• Manage budgets, POs and invoices for external engagement.
• Identify industry trends and new digital communication technologies.
• Direct agency partners to achieve external communications goals.
• Maintain journalist databases and contact resources.
• Support media pitching, social publishing and content coordination.
