Job summary

Xplora Search Group is seeking a Senior Manager, Cost Accounting in Philadelphia, PA. This hybrid role leads cost accounting close, oversees COGS, inventory costing, BOMs, and overhead allocations, partnering with Finance, FP&A, and Operations to optimize costs.

The ideal candidate has 9+ years in cost accounting within pharma/biotech or manufacturing, with strong GAAP and SOX experience. CPA/Big 4 preferred; NetSuite and advanced Excel skills are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 9+ years in accounting emphasizing cost accounting.
• Experience in pharma/biotech/manufacturing environments preferred.
• CPA and/or Big 4 experience strongly preferred; SOX experience beneficial.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and inventory/COGS expertise.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly and quarterly cost accounting close activities.
• Oversee inventory costing, COGS, BOMs, overhead allocation/absorption, and reserves.
• Analyze manufacturing costs, unit costs, volumes, and operations performance.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Finance, Corporate Accounting, FP&A, and Operations.
• Support budgeting/forecasting for manufacturing costs and inventory.
• Oversee physical inventory reconciliations and SOX controls.
• Prepare analytics for senior Finance leadership; drive process improvements.
• Lead and develop a team of 2 Cost Accounting professionals.

An exciting, rapidly growing biotech company is looking to add a Senior Manager, Cost Accounting to its Finance & Accounting team. This is a high-impact opportunity for a strong cost accounting professional to play a key role in a growing manufacturing organization.

What You'll Do:

• Lead monthly and quarterly cost accounting close activities
• Oversee inventory costing, COGS, BOMs, overhead allocation/absorption, and inventory reserves
• Analyze manufacturing spending, costs per unit, product volumes, and operational performance
• Partner with Manufacturing Finance, Corporate Accounting, FP&A, and Operations
• Support budgeting and forecasting related to manufacturing costs and inventory
• Oversee physical inventory processes and related reconciliations
• Support SOX controls, internal audit, and external financial audits
• Prepare financial analysis and reporting for senior Finance leadership
• Identify opportunities to improve cost accounting processes and manufacturing operations
• Lead and develop a team of 2 Cost Accounting professionals

What we're looking for:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• 9+ years of progressive accounting experience with a strong cost accounting focus
• Experience in pharma, biotech, or another manufacturing environment
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, inventory, and COGS
• Strong forecasting and analytical skills
• Experience in a SOX-controlled environment
• CPA and/or Big 4 experience strongly preferred
• NetSuite experience is a plus
• Advanced Excel skills and strong communication abilities
