Job summary

Mainspring in the Bay Area is seeking a Sr. Manager, Business Development & Commercial Analytics to drive new business opportunities for utility-scale and data center projects and to provide strong commercial analytical support across proposals.

You will work cross-functionally with BD, sales, finance, product, growth, and marketing to develop robust customer solutions, conduct due diligence, build proformas, and shape market views while ensuring delivery from Menlo Park or San Francisco offices

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in commercial analytics, business development, strategy, project finance, or energy economics.
• 5+ years of business development experience in the energy sector.
• MA/MS in economics, engineering, energy and/or MBA.
• Superior analytical and problem solving skills.
• Able to analyze complex issues and data and synthesize to provide a clear recommendation to the internal and customer teams.
• Demonstrated experience with financial models and energy markets (Knowledge of Energy Tool Base, macros, financial modeling, rate analysis).
• Experience discussing project finance concepts (IRR, NPV, pre-tax vs. after-tax, etc.).
• Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines with strong project management, organizational, analytical and coordination skills.
• Must live in the Bay Area and be able to work in the Menlo Park or San Francisco offices at least three days per week.
• Ability to travel on short notice.

Responsibilities

• Drive new business development opportunities in utility-scale and data center projects.
• Provide robust commercial analytics support for customer proposals.
• Support due diligence requests, modeling proformas, and location-based economic analysis.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with BD, sales, finance, product, growth, and marketing.
• Refine product and lifecycle services based on market feedback.
