Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) is seeking a senior technical leader to drive the design, build, and deployment of secure, scalable internal applications and automations. You will guide modernization of a diverse portfolio, move to a new cloud-based platform, and lead AI-assisted development efforts.

The role partners with Operational Capabilities, Enterprise Architecture, and IT to set standards, review AI-generated code, and ensure secure, efficient operations.

Competenze

• Eight+ years building web applications and workflow automation for business users.
• Led a development team for three+ years.
• Experience migrating platforms during modernization efforts.
• Ability to decide when to build, buy, or retire a solution.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools and workflows.
• Fluent in React or similar, TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, and cloud data stores.
• Experience with GitHub workflows, CI/CD, and security reviews.

• Lead the design, build, testing, and deployment of secure, maintainable applications and automations.
• Set standards for source control, code review, CI/CD, automated testing, and security reviews.
• Assess and migrate or retire HHMI custom applications as needed during platform transitions.
• Introduce AI-assisted development tools and define how AI-generated code is reviewed and secured.
• Size, prioritize, and forecast requests with leadership and delivery management.
• Be the technical owner for partners and vendor products, including renewals and procurement.
• Hire, mentor, and evaluate team performance while scaling expertise.
