Job summary

Zurich North America in Chicago is recruiting for a high-impact Executive Underwriter or AVP Underwriting Director for the Middle Market. This hybrid role focuses on building broker partnerships, assessing risks, and pricing to drive a profitable portfolio across Property & Casualty lines.

You will collaborate with claims, finance, risk engineering and other units, leveraging deep underwriting expertise to foster client and broker relationships in an evolving insurance landscape.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support are AND

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with broker partners and customers across all industries.
• Leverage underwriting acumen across risk assessment, exposure evaluation and pricing to generate and maintain a profitable book of new and renewal business.
• Work collaboratively across business units including claims, finance, risk engineering, actuary, and technical underwriting.
• Grow and develop relationships with preferred distribution partners in an assigned territory.
