Job summary

Jobtailor in Connecticut is seeking an experienced insurance professional to manage management liability claims for private and non-profit organizations. You will analyze coverage, negotiate settlements, and oversee defense counsel to develop litigation strategies.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of management liability claims experience, including EPL, D&O, and fiduciary coverages, with strong negotiation and communication skills. Travel about one day per month is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of management liability claims experience
• Equivalent experience defined as 9+ years of relevant claims experience, including litigation
• Experience handling EPL, D&O, fiduciary liability coverages
• Excellent coverage analysis skills and experience drafting coverage position correspondence
• Experience handling litigated files and directing defense counsel
• Excellent negotiation skills
• Willingness to travel, averaging one day per month
• Claims licensure as required by respective state(s)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to organize, multitask and prioritize work
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
• Ability to analyze data, exercise sound judgment, draw conclusions and make supported decisions
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
• Must not require now or in the future visa sponsorship
• CPCU and other insurance-related studies preferred

Responsibilities

• Handle Management Liability Claims (EPL, D&O, Fiduciary and Crime) for private and non-profit businesses based on Claim Guidelines
• Analyze, investigate, negotiate and resolve claims of all severity levels within authority limits
• Select, direct and manage defense counsel, including approval of budgets
• Develop litigation and file disposition strategies
• Attend mediations, settlement conferences and trials
• Verify and analyze applicable coverage for reported claims
• Follow operational policies and procedures, including compliance, regulatory, performance and customer service standards
• Prepare Large Loss Reports and other management reports reflecting loss development, financial exposure, coverage issues, claim and recovery strategies
• Establish 24-hour contact and maintain appropriate stakeholder contact throughout the claim file lifecycle
• Identify and address recovery, contribution and SIU opportunities
• Set accurate and timely loss and expense reserves in compliance with Claim Guidelines
• Draft correspondence, including coverage letters, as required
• Support business partners on claim, underwriting and marketing-related matters
• Maintain resident and nonresident adjuster licenses as required
• Perform other assigned duties
