Job summary

AEP seeks a Major Project Director to lead a high-profile generation project with budgets exceeding $1 billion. You will direct all project management activities and ensure delivery across safety, schedule, and cost while aligning with regulatory and stakeholder requirements.

You will be on-site for the project duration, coordinating a team of functional leaders and staff to meet milestones and regulatory obligations in a complex, multi-component environment.

Responsibilities

• Own overall project execution directing project management functions to successfully complete assigned project
• Implement and oversee project safety program to achieve Zero Harm
• Report on project strategy and team needs to Generation Executive leadership with solutions across siting regulatory procurement engineering and budgetary requirements
• Establish project commercial contracting strategy and negotiate agreements with contractors EPC and engineering
• Drive integrated schedule across all workstreams and align with resource management
• Maintain program budget and contingency while meeting budget targets
• Identify and manage executive risk and develop mitigation plans
• Lead project change management and resolve disputes to avoid escalation
• Build and mentor a cohesive project leadership team for high productivity
• Manage stakeholder relationships with utilities, RTOs, regulators, landowners, and contractors
• Ensure readiness for regulatory filings and successful hearings for Certificate of Convenience and Necessity
• Oversee staffing including employees, contractors, and consultants/vendor management
• Oversee construction delivery safely on schedule and within investment
• Understand technical solutions related to project scope to drive team toward solutions
