Job summary

Pillar High School is seeking a dependable Maintenance Technician to support and supervise daily operations, ensuring the building and grounds remain safe, clean, and fully functional for students with disabilities and staff.

The role requires 5+ years in building maintenance, strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry, and a valid NJ driver’s license. It offers a full-time schedule with competitive benefits and opportunities to work with external vendors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in building maintenance or related field.
• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
• Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Valid NJ Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
• Trade school training or relevant certifications (Black Seal and pool certification) preferred.
• Experience working in a school or care facility environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on facility systems including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general repairs.
• Complete daily inspections to identify and address any building or equipment issues.
• Respond to work orders and emergency repair needs in a timely manner.
• Maintain cleanliness and functionality of classrooms, restrooms, offices, and shared spaces.
• Assist with room setups and equipment moves for school functions and events.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and ADA standards.
• Collaborate with outside vendors when necessary.
• Track maintenance supplies and report inventory needs.
