Job summary

Pillar Care Continuum is seeking a dependable Lead Maintenance Technician to support daily operations of a school facility in East Hanover, NJ. The role ensures the building and grounds remain safe, clean, and fully functional to support students with disabilities and staff.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in building maintenance, strong electrical/plumbing/carpentry knowledge, and the ability to perform physical labor. A valid NJ driver’s license is required and trade certifications are a plus.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in building maintenance or related field.
• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
• Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders, and working in various weather conditions.
• Valid NJ Driver's License and reliable transportation.
• Trade school training or relevant certifications (Black Seal and pool certification) preferred.
• Experience working in a school or care facility environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on facility systems including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general repairs.
• Complete daily inspections to identify and address any building or equipment issues.
• Respond to work orders and emergency repair needs in a timely manner.
• Maintain cleanliness and functionality of classrooms, restrooms, offices, and shared spaces.
• Assist with room setups and equipment moves for school functions and events.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and ADA standards.
• Collaborate with outside vendors when necessary.
• Track maintenance supplies and report inventory needs.

Position Overview

Pillar High School is seeking a dependable and skilled Maintenance Technician to support and supervise daily operations by ensuring the school building and grounds remain safe, clean, and fully functional. This role plays an important part in creating a supportive environment for students with disabilities and the staff who serve them.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary: $53,000.00 to $58,000.00 annually

Pillar Care takes into consideration a combination of candidate’s work experience and qualification as well as the scope of the role, complexity and external market and internal market value when determining salary level.
