Job summary

Catalina Island Health seeks a Senior Maintenance Technician III to lead maintenance of hospital, clinic, housing, and Avalon facilities. You will supervise technicians, coordinate vendors, and ensure readiness for regulatory surveys.

The role requires deep knowledge of hospital building systems, NFPA standards, and problem-solving across mechanical, electrical, and controls domains, with after-hours coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Trade school, technical certificate, or apprenticeship in a building trade preferred.
• 6+ years experience in building maintenance; healthcare/complex facility experience preferred.
• Experience leading or training maintenance staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead technician for critical building systems including emergency power, medical gas/vacuum, fire/life safety, HVAC and building automation.
• Perform inspection and testing of emergency generators, transfer switches per NFPA 110.
• Inspect and maintain medical gas and vacuum systems per NFPA 99.
• Monitor HVAC pressure, air exchanges, temperature, humidity in patient care and isolation areas.
• Support water management program including Legionella controls and flushing.
• Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and controls issues.
• Coordinate outside vendors and contractors for system service.
• Maintain records for regulatory and accreditation surveys.
• Plan infection control risk assessments for maintenance in occupied areas.
• Direct and train Maintenance technicians I and II.
