Job summary

Randstad is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic III in Hayward, CA, to perform high-level troubleshooting on food production lines, conveyors, fryers, HPP, and packaging equipment. Requires 5+ years in food manufacturing, own toolset, and CMMS proficiency. TIG welding certification a plus.

Salary $83,200–$95,680; shift 1 (4:00 AM–12:30 PM); No degree required. Responsibilities include electrical and PLC diagnostics, PMs, and leadership support for junior staff while ensuring safety protocols and GMP

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of mechanical and electrical maintenance experience in a food manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read mechanical blueprints and electrical schematics; use precision measuring instruments.
• Proficient with industrial processing/packaging equipment and CMMS for work orders.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on preventive and corrective maintenance on food production machinery and packaging lines.
• Run electrical circuits, troubleshoot automation controls and PLCs.
• Execute scheduled PMs and document in CMMS.
• Partner with team to maintain facilities, tools, and parts inventory.
• Adhere to LOTO, GMP, food safety, and OSHA standards; mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of mechanical and electrical maintenance experience strictly within a food manufacturing environment.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency with industrial processing and packaging equipment (fryers, ovens, HPP, fillers, pumps, motors, conveyors).
  • Deep experience in electrical troubleshooting, running circuits, and PLC/automation diagnostics.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, electrical schematics, and use precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators).
  • Proficiency using CMMS software to track and close work orders.
• Tools & Certifications:
  • Must possess your own set of basic hand tools.
  • TIG Welding certification is a major plus! ZPMLSTCM

Responsibilities

• High-Impact Troubleshooting & Repair: Perform hands-on corrective and preventive maintenance on high-capacity food production machinery, including conveyors, industrial mixers, tortilla ovens, commercial fryers, high-pressure processing (HPP) systems, filling machines, and packaging lines.
• Electrical & PLC Systems: Run new electrical circuits, relocate existing wiring runs, and diagnose/troubleshoot automation controls and PLCs.
• Preventive Maintenance (PM): Execute scheduled PMs (lubrication, filter changes, cleaning) and log all work orders using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Facility Maintenance: Partner with the team to maintain plant facilities, structures, and utilities. Keep the maintenance shop fully organized, secure, and stocked with tools and parts.
• Safety First: Adhere strictly to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Food Safety standards, and OSHA guidelines.
• Leadership & Collaboration: Mentor and guide junior maintenance staff, coordinate third-party vendor/contractor activities as assigned, and work closely with the Maintenance Supervisor.
