Job summary

Union Electric Steel Corporation in the United States is seeking a Machine Shop Maintenance Supervisor to oversee electrical and mechanical maintenance of shop equipment, troubleshoot issues, and support quality. You will supervise maintenance personnel, manage safety, plan schedules, and contribute to capital-expenditure decisions, with strong PLC/CNC aptitude and union shop experience.

BS in Electrical or Mechanical Eng or equivalent, 5+ years in maintenance, 3+ years supervisory in a union

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
• Minimum five years of maintenance experience in a machine shop environment.
• Minimum three years supervisory experience in a union shop (preferred).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
• Proficiency with CMMS software and Oracle.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day supervision of maintenance personnel.
• Promote a safety-conscious work environment.
• Hire and train maintenance department staff.
• Plan schedules and assignments based on priorities and skills.
• Monitor inventories and maintain safe shop conditions.
• Analyze equipment failures and perform root cause analysis.
• Assist in capital expenditures planning with upgrade recommendations.
• Record repairs and maintenance and compile reports.
• Ensure work is completed correctly and on time.
• Counsel employees and help develop job skills.
• Investigate accidents and prepare factual reports.
