Job summary

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine in Wilson, NC seeks a Sr. Supervisor in the Global Engineering & Technical (GET) organization to oversee manufacturing utilities and site maintenance.

The GET (Global Engineering and Technical) organization operates as one integrated team in the delivery of Engineering, Maintenance and Execution Systems solutions. We operate in a standard, coordinated and consistent manner in support of the current and future requirements of our Manufacturing and Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT) and in partnership with key internal/external network. The Sr. Supervisor reports to the Maintenance Senior Manager and is responsible for the manufacturing engineering operations of the organization. Own, operate and maintain all site Utilities (Clean and Black) infrastructure assets, acting as site SME for all operational, maintenance and project related scope.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervises a team of multi-craft maintenance technicians and is accountable for conducting effective performance management.
  • Responsible for planning, designing and implementing maintenance programs to optimize the availability and productivity of manufacturing facilities and equipment.
  • Analyze, develop, and implement effective and operationally-sound functional strategies and initiatives.
  • Assists with the coordination and execution of processes and assignments for the Maintenance area.
  • Reports to managers on project activities and progress against key deliverables, ensuring projects are on schedule to meet agreed timelines.
  • Supports and/or leads root cause analysis and implementation of robust solutions to downtime issues.
  • Maintains a consistent workflow and productivity of the team, and proactively identifies and resolves operational issues and concerns.
  • Coaches less experienced staff, recommending plans for continual improvement, and consistently evaluates individual and team performance against operational goals.
  • Creates and maintains a training program to ensure the team is up to date with the manufacturing maintenance technology and industry trends.
  • Monitors equipment operations to ensure cGMP compliance.
  • Develops and executes maintenance procedures, preventive and corrective maintenance, and equipment files for the manufacturing equipment.
  • Identifies appropriate spare parts to ensure maximum availability of equipment.
  • Evaluates equipment reliability to identify trends and maximize equipment uptime.
  • Creation and management of appropriate maintenance contracts.
  • Liaises with production staff to coordinate repair work, statutory safety inspections and supply of new plant and equipment with production schedules.
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or related discipline.
Experience And Skills
Required
  • A minimum of 5 years of Maintenance utilities experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Technical background in manufacturing requirements, engineering elements, etc.
  • Knowledge of cGMP’s for Maintenance in an FDA regulated environment.
  • Working knowledge of bio or pharmaceutical or chemical process, utilities, and facilities.
  • Detail and goal oriented, teamwork, customer-focus, thorough understanding of GMPs and regulatory requirements.
  • Influencing skills, partnering and collaboration skills, analytical skills, conflict and risk management skills, critical thinking and good oral and written presentation skills are required
Preferred
  • People management experience.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Literacy in computer operating systems and applications, including SAP.
  • FPX certification and/or Six Sigma and/or Lean experience.
  • Experience in green or brown field GMP MFG facility start-up including process systems, automation, utilities, facilities, and operations.
