Job summary

Virginia Department of Transportation seeks an Area Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance programs across assigned districts. Qualifications

• Ability to gather data, maintain accurate records, and prepare cost documents for labor, equipment and materials.
• Experience supervising staff and managing budgets within maintenance operations.
• Ability to read road and bridge sketches and interpret plans and standards.
• Familiarity with inventory management and procurement processes.
• Strong communication skills and customer service for internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, deliver and operate maintenance programs within schedules and budgets.
• Manage budget needs and forecast expenditures for the maintenance program.
• Respond to customer concerns and coordinate resolution through various channels.
• Direct pavement and sign marking crews and ensure schedules meet deadlines and budgets.
• Provide guidance on emergency maintenance operations including snow removal and hurricane preparedness.
• Monitor contracts for compliance and prepare periodic reports for management.
