Job summary

County of Culpeper seeks a journeyman-level technician to perform maintenance, repair, and installation of mechanical and electrical equipment in water/sewer facilities. The role involves diagnosing complex issues, coordinating contract work, and ensuring compliance with codes and safety standards.

The position requires a high school diploma with 5 years of mechanical or electrical experience, and a Virginia driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Education equivalent to a high school diploma supplemented with 5 years Mechanical or Electrical experience.
• Must possess satisfactory results of a criminal history background check.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Virginia driver’s license.
• Special consideration available if you have or are willing to obtain a Journeyman or Master License.

Responsibilities

• Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs commercial mechanical systems, pumps, blowers, mixers and control systems.
• Coordinates contract maintenance services and supervises contractors/work teams.
• Installs equipment such as fuel and water lines, piping ducts and vents, pumps, motors and related components.
• Performs preventive maintenance and routine inspections of system controls and equipment.
