Job summary

The Town of Culpeper’s Public Works Department is seeking a qualified applicant for the position of Water & Sewer Utility Supervisor. The role leads water utility crews, utility inspectors, utility locator, meter technician, suppliers, and contractors engaged in the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater utilities and streets.

Primary duties include supervising repairs and installations, operating medium and heavy equipment, ensuring safety training, and coordinating with GPS/GIS

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with experience in water utilities and heavy equipment.
• CDL license valid in Virginia required.
• VDOT Work Zone Supervisor certification and VDEQ Backflow Prevention certification required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise water utility crews, inspectors, locators, meter techs, suppliers and Contractors.
• Repair, install, and maintain water/sewer lines, meters and related infrastructure.
• Operate medium/heavy equipment and oversee preventive maintenance.
• Ensure safety training and compliance with work zone and utility regulations.
• Oversee taps, meter installations, and gas/electric line locating activities.
• Utilize GPS, GIS, TV surveys and AMR systems in daily operations.
• Support road/drainage maintenance and snow/ice removal as needed.
