Job summary

The John Stewart Company is seeking a Lead Maintenance to oversee day-to-day maintenance and janitorial needs of our multifamily property in San Francisco. The role emphasizes safe work practices, hands-on repairs, preventative maintenance and timely inspections while serving as a leader for the onsite staff.

Responsibilities include managing work orders, coordinating with residents and management, ensuring code compliance, training and safety inspections, and ensuring reliable on-call coverage

Qualifications

• 5+ years of multi-family apartment maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations pertaining to worker’s protection, precautions, occupational hazards and safety procedures for housing.
• Basic mathematical and computer skills; fluency in English.
• Language preference: Cantonese (spoken).
• Journeyman rating or equivalent in one or more building trades, or vocational-tech graduate with journeyman rating.

Responsibilities

• Schedules and responds to work orders, including follow-up with residents and management.
• Assists in safety trainings and inspections; follows up with repairs of plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Follows up with management on projects and inspection requirements, meeting deadlines.
• Operates and installs/repairs in accordance with local, state and national codes.
• Inspects others' work for quality, safety and contract compliance.
• Performs inspections, testing and maintenance of safety equipment and appliances.
• On-call capacity with reliable transportation.
