Job summary

Chelten House Products is seeking a Maintenance Lead for a 1st shift, on-site role in Bridgeport, NJ. The role entails advanced troubleshooting, repair, preventive maintenance, and leading a hands-on maintenance team to maximize equipment reliability.

You will mentor Technicians, diagnose complex issues, and coordinate response with Operations while adhering to GMP and food safety standards. Strong communication and safety focus are essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform essential Maintenance Technician tasks with higher proficiency in mechanical troubleshooting, repair, preventive maintenance, and reliability.
• Serve as the first technical point of support for Technicians when complex issues arise.
• Diagnose mechanical failures and help identify root causes and corrective actions.
• Provide hands-on guidance during breakdowns, repairs, changeovers, start-ups, and maintenance activities.
• Coordinate Technician response based on production priorities, safety, and resources.
• Communicate equipment status during downtime and repair progress to Maintenance Supervisor.
• Escalate to Supervisor when beyond Lead authority or resources are available.
• Support preventive, predictive, corrective, and planned maintenance to established standards.
• Review repairs and support safe equipment start-up and return to service.
• Assist Technicians with manuals, drawings, blueprints, and procedures.
• Support troubleshooting of pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pneumatics, hydraulics, valves, bearings, seals.
• Identify recurring equipment failures and communicate reliability concerns to Supervisor.
• Utilize CMMS to document work, equipment conditions, and parts usage.
• Coach Technicians and reinforce safe work practices and PPE.
• Support continuous improvement and asset care initiatives with Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations.
• Maintain tools, areas, and PPE; perform other duties as assigned.
