Job summary

Office of the Illinois Secretary of State is seeking an Information Systems Advisor I – z/OS Administration to plan, implement, and optimize the ILSOS mainframe environment. You will oversee z/OS subsystems, storage, and networking, with responsibility for 24x7 support and disaster recovery.

The role requires deep knowledge of z/OS, TWS, DB2, CICS, MQ, and security via RACF; supervision experience is preferred, and a valid US work authorization is required.

Qualifications

• Requires two years of college coursework in computer science.
• Requires 4.5 years of experience in technical systems and/or programming and/or IT project management, with at least 1 year supervisory experience.
• Experience with z/OS, TWS, DB2, CICS and MQ is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, modernize and optimize the z/OS operating systems and subsystems.
• Support IBM mainframe hardware, storage, and peripheral components.
• Provide 24x7 on-call support for critical issues and coordinate resolutions.
• Manage IBM SAN storage, replication, and VTL environments.
• Administer z/OS networking including TCP/IP, routing and encryption.
• Maintain disaster recovery environment and procedures for rapid recovery.
• Assist with RACF security controls and ensure documentation by staff.
