Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Z/OS Systems Administrator to provide top-level technical and architectural support for statewide Enterprise Information Services. You will design, install, and optimize IBM Mainframe environments, and troubleshoot critical outages while aligning capacity planning with vendor solutions.

The role requires deep z/OS experience, expertise in CICS/DB2/IMS/TCPIP, and a proven ability to communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences.

Qualifications

• Seven years of information systems experience in a shared services mainframe environment using z/OS and related software.
• OR An Associate's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or closely related field.
• OR completion of a two year accredited vocational training program in information technology or closely related field; AND 5 years of information systems experience in a shared services mainframe environment using z/OS and related software.
• OR A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or closely related field AND three years of information systems experience in a shared services mainframe environment using z/OS and related software.
• OR Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or closely related field AND one year of information systems experience in a shared services mainframe environment using z/OS and related software
• Advanced experience in z/OS systems programming.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level architectural support and systems programming for z/OS in enterprise IBM Z-OS environments.
• Lead design, installation, and optimization of complex IBM Mainframe environments.
• Troubleshoot critical service interruptions and manage hardware capacity and vendor selections.
• Perform needs assessments and architectural planning to create scalable business processes across multi-agency infrastructures.
• Evaluate related software, determine compatibility, perform cost/benefit analyses, and recommend changes.
