Job summary

Truist is seeking a senior penetration tester to perform advanced security assessments across enterprise technologies with a focus on mainframe environments such as z/OS. You will identify vulnerabilities, validate findings, and work with technology teams to reduce risk.

Telecommuting may be considered for well-qualified candidates; typical hours align with EST. The role requires strong technical writing and the ability to defend findings to technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, and work-related experience.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in security engineering or related cybersecurity roles.
• Deep specialized knowledge in cybersecurity principles, theories, and concepts.
• Proven experience in software development lifecycle security practices.
• Deep knowledge of threat modeling, security testing, and penetration testing.
• Experience implementing and managing complex information security technologies.

Responsibilities

• Conducts black box, grey box and assumed breach penetration tests of enterprise z/OS environments.
• Uses manual techniques, scripting (REXX, JCL, Assembler, Python) and offensive tooling to enumerate users and resources.
• Documents findings with clear reproduction steps, supporting evidence, impact statements, and remediation recommendations.
• Presents and defends technical findings to application teams, mainframe engineers, and risk partners.
• Performs validation and retesting to confirm remediation and risk reduction, and supports audit/compliance.
• Partners with testing teams to improve mainframe testing coverage, playbooks, tooling, automation.
• Performs peer reviews and provides technical guidance to security professionals.
• Maintains knowledge of mainframe attack techniques and security threats.
