Job summary

Peraton seeks a skilled Mainframe Developer to design, develop, test, and support large COBOL applications. You will use IDMS, DB2, and related mainframe tools to deliver robust solutions and collaborate with end users to define new requirements. The role supports remote/telework personnel while serving a PC-based customer base.

You will mentor junior developers, contribute to Scrum/TD development practices, and ensure performance and security standards are met across enterprise systems.

Qualifications

• 2 years experience with BS/BA; 6 years experience with a high school
• Experience with writing, compiling and executing IDMS/ADSO COBOL programs
• Able to provide technical implementation expertise in the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of robust enterprise mainframe applications using COBOL
• Must be a US Citizen or a Green Card Holder
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance
• 5 plus years of COBOL, VSAM, JCL and DB2 experience
• Current or prior U.S. Department of Agriculture experience
• Cloud Practitioner certification or 3 years cloud experience
• Java and Web development
• Working knowledge of Agile practices such as Scrum and Test Driven Development

Responsibilities

• The Mainframe Developer will design, develop, test, and debug software for mainframe COBOL applications.
• Work with IDMS DB2 databases and IDMS ADS/ADSO programs, ensuring robust performance.
• Collaborate with end users to define new systems requirements and mentor junior developers.
• Provide expertise in COBOL, TSO, JCL, Endevor, CICS, IDMS and related tools.
• Troubleshoot production problems and provide resolutions.
• Incorporate performance, scalability, usability, and security considerations into tasks.
