Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years machine shop experience as a machinist.
• Welding, brazing, CNC and jig bore experience helpful.
• Programming experience using Gibbs or any other programming software.
• Leadership experience leading small groups (4-6) of Machinist
• Must be able to set up and operate a variety of manual machines such as lathes, mills, precision grinders, drill presses, and punch presses, 3 axis, 5 axis machines.
• Must be able to make a variety of parts working from blueprints, job specifications, hand drawn sketches and/or verbal instructions.
• Must be capable of working within tolerances of .0002" in a high-pressure environment.
• Must be able to perform standard shop computations (geometry/trigonometry).
• Must have own basic tools (calipers, 0-3" micrometers, dial indicators).

Responsibilities

• Machine prototype and production parts, perform production rework and tooling fabrication.
• Set up and run all manual machines including grinders.
• Perform all machining operations to fabricate parts and pilot production units.
• Read blueprints and plan methods and sequences of machining.
• Inspect own work per drawing requirements.
• Layout parts for successive machining operations; determine tooling and speeds/feeds.
• Program machines to reduce setup times and balance workloads.
• Provide technical assistance to lower classifications.
