Job summary

ITT Aerospace Controls LLC is seeking a Sr. Machinist (Machinist IV) in Valencia, CA. You will set up and operate a range of manual machines, including lathes, mills and grinders, to machine prototype and production parts from blueprints.

Strong layout, tolerance control, and the ability to lead small teams are essential. Responsibilities include fixture design, tooling, machine programming to minimize setup times, and maintaining high quality per specifications.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of machine shop experience as a machinist setting up and operating manual machines.
• Welding, brazing, CNC and jig bore experience is helpful.
• Programming experience using Gibbs or other programming software.
• Leadership experience leading small groups (4–6) of machinists.
• Ability to set up and operate a variety of manual machines (lathes, mills, grinders, drill presses, punch presses) including 3- and 5-axis capable.
• Must interpret blueprints and job specs, and work within tolerances of 0.0002 inches.
• Able to perform standard shop computations using geometry and trigonometry.
• Must be able to layout parts using blueprints and use hand tools and measuring instruments.

Responsibilities

• Machine prototype and production parts; perform rework and some tooling fabrication.
• Set up and run all manual machines; may operate multiple machines simultaneously.
• Fabricate parts, models, devices and pilot production units from drawings.
• Work from blueprints to conform parts to specifications.
• Inspect own work per drawing requirements.
• Lay out parts for successive machining operations; create tooling; determine speeds and feeds.
• Program machines to reduce setup times and optimize workloads.
