Responsibilities

• Execute precise manual machining operations using mills and lathes to support diverse R&D and prototyping initiatives.
• Interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings to ensure exact dimensional accuracy in all manufactured parts.
• Operate and maintain specialized equipment, including manual vertical mills, engine lathes, and surface grinders.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to refine designs through iterative prototyping and reverse engineering processes.
• Optimize shop floor efficiency by maintaining equipment, organizing workspaces, and assisting with miscellaneous metal fabrication tasks.
• Uphold the highest quality standards by utilizing measurement gauges to verify component specifications throughout the production cycle.

Required Skills

• Proven professional experience in manual machining with various materials including steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret detailed technical blueprints and engineering schematics.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities and the ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
• Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs and maintain focus during extended shifts.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Preferred Skills

• Hands-on experience with Southwestern Industries machinery and ProtoTRAK control systems.
• Proficiency in operating CNC lathes (2-4 axis) and performing machine installations.
• In-depth knowledge of various alloys, steel grades, and NDE (Non-Destructive Evaluation) processes.
• Experience with manual grinding techniques and advanced measurement instrumentation.
