Job summary

Richards Manufacturing Company in Irvington, NJ is seeking a Machine Safety Program Leader & Functional Safety Engineer to own the site Machine Guarding Program and drive risk reduction across equipment lifecycle. You will lead risk assessments, set safety objectives, and coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, EHS, and suppliers to achieve compliant, safe manufacturing.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechatronics, or related field.
Minimum 5–10 years in manufacturing engineering, machine safety, or automation.
Proven experience leading machine safety risk assessments and safeguarding programs.

Responsibilities

Lead machine safety program and risk reduction projects at the Newark, NJ facility.
Develop and maintain the machine guarding program and site risk assessments.
Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and suppliers.
Lead machine safety team and provide training on risk assessment methodologies.
Ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910, ISO 13849, and NFPA 79/70E.
Support capital projects and equipment modernization initiatives.
