Our client is seeking a Functional Safety Engineer to lead machine risk management efforts. This role works cross-functionally with internal and external clients to support safe and efficient manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities:
- Lead and enhance the site's machine safety program, ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards.
- Conduct machine risk assessments and implement effective safeguarding and risk-reduction solutions.
- Manage machine safety, automation, and equipment improvement projects from design review through commissioning and validation.
- Monitor program performance through audits, metrics, corrective actions, and documentation management.
- Serve as the site's technical expert for machine safety, risk mitigation, and safety control systems.
- Review and approve risk assessments, safety-related engineering documents, and control system designs.
- Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
- Identify opportunities to improve safety, equipment reliability, productivity, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Technology, or a related technical field.
- CMSE, TÜV, or equivalent Machinery/Functional Safety certification.
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, automation, machine safety, or industrial engineering.
- Experience leading machine risk assessments, mitigation programs, and capital improvement projects.
- Strong knowledge of machine safeguarding, industrial controls, and applicable safety regulations and standards (ANSI, ISO, IEC, NFPA, and robotics).
- Proficiency with LOTO, safety PLCs, Performance Level (PL), Safety Integrity Level (SIL), and machine safety validation methods.
