Job summary

Eaton is seeking a Machine Safety Engineering Specialist to ensure functional safety and compliance of machinery and automated systems across its facilities. The role emphasizes risk assessment, safety architecture design, and adherence to international standards, with a strong focus on documentation and remediation.

The ideal candidate will lead hazard analyses, develop safety requirements, and collaborate with EHS, engineering, and operations to foster a culture of continuous risk reduction

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Engineering or other technical area from an accredited educational institution
• Minimum 6+ years of experience in machinery safety, automation, or industrial controls engineering.
• Strong proficiency in safety system design, validation, and deployment.
• Familiarity with LOTO procedures and energy control processes.
• Eaton will not sponsor immigration for this position.
• Must be physically located in the United States and willing to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Lead machine safety risk assessments and hazard analyses for manufacturing equipment and automated systems per ISO 12100.
• Design, specify, implement, and validate safety-related control systems per ISO 13849 and IEC 62061.
• Develop Safety Requirements Specifications and implement safeguards including emergency stops and interlocks.
• Perform verification and validation of safety systems through testing, analysis, and documentation.
• Develop and execute machine safety remediation plans from assessment through implementation.
• Collaborate with EHS, engineering, maintenance, and operations to ensure compliance and risk reduction.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation including validation records and residual risk mitigation plans.
• Support Eaton’s EMSE program by mentoring candidates and promoting best practices.
