Job summary

Eaton’s Boyd Thermal Integration team is seeking a Machine Safety Engineer to ensure the functional safety and compliance of machinery and automated systems through international standards and risk assessment methods. This role emphasizes building internal machine safety expertise and supporting operational excellence across facilities.

You will lead risk assessments, design and validate safety-related control systems, develop detailed specifications, and mentor colleagues while coordinating

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.
• 6+ years of machinery safety, automation, or industrial controls experience.
• Strong proficiency in safety system design and deployment.
• Familiarity with LOTO and energy control processes.
• Must be located in the United States and able to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Lead machine safety risk assessments and hazard analyses per ISO 12100.
• Design, implement, and validate safety-related control systems per ISO 13849/IEC 62061.
• Develop Safety Requirements Specifications and determine PLr/SIL levels.
• Implement safeguards such as emergency stops and interlocks.
• Verify and validate safety systems through testing and documentation.
• Coordinate remediation plans and manage safety projects end-to-end.
• Mentor and collaborate with EHS, engineering, and operations teams.
