Job summary

Eaton’s Boyd Thermal Integration team seeks a Machine Safety Engineering Specialist to ensure functional safety and regulatory compliance for machinery and automated systems. This role emphasizes safeguarding across the machine lifecycle using ISO 12100, ISO 13849, and IEC 62061, and includes risk reduction initiatives.

The successful candidate will develop safety requirements, validate controls, and collaborate with EHS, maintenance, and operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Engineering or technical area from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 6+ years in machinery safety, automation, or industrial controls engineering.
• Strong proficiency in safety system design, validation, and deployment.
• Familiarity with LOTO procedures and energy control processes.
• Willing to travel up to 50% in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Lead machine safety risk assessments and hazard analyses per ISO 12100 across the machine lifecycle.
• Design, implement, and validate safety-related control systems and functions per ISO 13849, IEC 62061.
• Develop Safety Requirements Specifications (SRS) and determine PLr/SIL, with safeguards like emergency stops and interlocks.
• Perform verification and validation of safety systems through testing, analysis, and documentation.
• Develop remediation plans and manage projects from assessment to implementation with proper documentation.
• Collaborate with EHS, engineering, maintenance, and operations to ensure compliance and risk reduction.
• Maintain technical documentation including risk assessments, safety files, and residual risk mitigation plans.
• Support and mentor in Eaton’s EMSE program and promote machine safety best practices.
