What You’ll Do

We are seeking a skilled Senior Machine Learning Scientist to develop and implement NLP models and LLMs for healthcare. Your work will enhance clinical workflows, improve trial matching, and advance medical research, leveraging NLP and LLMs to transform healthcare.

Responsibilities

• Develop NLP models and LLM agents for precision medicine.
• Research, train, test, deploy, and improve ML models for information extraction, relation extraction, retrieval, QA, classification, summarization, and prediction.
• Work with clinical notes, EHR data, imaging, and molecular data.
• Explore new technologies to enhance team capabilities.
• Contribute to AI research and thought leadership.
• Design experiments to evaluate NLP models in healthcare.
• Collaborate with business and product teams to develop AI product strategies.
• Work with healthcare professionals and engineers to develop practical solutions.
• Ensure models are scalable, efficient, and compliant with healthcare regulations like HIPAA and GDPR.
• Participate in healthcare and AI research communities, attend conferences, and publish findings.
• Establish research collaborations with academic and industry partners.

Minimum Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s with 3+ years, or Bachelor’s with 5+ years in a quantitative field such as CS, AI, ML, NLP, bioinformatics, or related.
• Strong collaboration, communication, and influence skills.
• Proven record of publications, patents, or products in AI with NLP or LLMs.
• Solid knowledge of ML concepts, deep learning, transformers, optimization, and regularization.
• Proficiency in Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, Pandas, scikit-learn, spaCy, NLTK.
• Strong software engineering skills with Python, Linux, SQL.
• Bias towards action and high-risk, high-gain project appetite.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience deploying models for info extraction, retrieval, QA, classification, summarization, or clinical prediction.
• Experience with LLM frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel.
• Experience with embeddings and multimodal data.
• Healthcare domain experience, especially oncology.
• Experience working with clinical, molecular, and imaging data.
• Knowledge of medical ontologies like UMLS, SNOMED CT, MeSH, NCI Thesaurus, RxNorm, HGNC.

Salary Range

California & New York: $150,000 - $200,000 USD
Illinois & Remote (USA): $130,000 - $180,000 USD

Salary varies based on location, qualifications, and experience. Benefits include incentive compensation, stock options, and health benefits.

Additional Notes

Remote roles in Los Angeles and other locations are considered, with attention to legal considerations related to criminal history disclosures.
