Job summary

FormFactor, Inc. in Livermore, CA is seeking an experienced software engineer to design and develop control software for high-precision manufacturing machines.

You will work solo and in teams, applying strong C#/C++ programming and debugging skills to automate and optimize production processes. You will collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers, integrate automation with MES software, and contribute across the SDLC, including testing and documentation.

Qualifications

• 8+ years related experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 6+ years with a Master’s, or a PhD with 3+ years.
• Strong C#/C++ programming and debugging skills.
• Experience with machine control and multi-threaded environments.
• Automation and software development in high-volume manufacturing.
• Excellent teamwork with mechanical/electrical engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement robust machine control software for automated sorting, assembly, and inspection machines.
• Plan, design, develop and test software systems including cloud-based tools.
• Work with mechanical and electrical engineers to create solutions for high-volume manufacturing.
• Integrate automation machines with MES software and process flows.
• Participate in all phases of SDLC, including unit testing and release.
• Create technical design and user documentation.
