Job summary

L2x Talent Solutions is seeking an experienced assembler/engineer to work closely with the Head Design Engineer in Joliet, IL. You will review designs for manufacturability, build first-build prototypes, and translate engineering requirements into repeatable assembly practices for production teams.

Responsibilities include identifying early design concerns, mentoring assemblers, and developing standard work, tooling needs, and inspection points to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in mechanical, electrical, industrial, or custom equipment assembly.
• Advanced ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, BOMs, specifications, and work instructions.
• Strong hands-on assembly skills with the ability to troubleshoot fit, function, routing, tooling, and process issues.
• Experience supporting first builds, prototypes, custom builds, or engineering change implementation.
• Demonstrated ability to guide, train, and mentor other assemblers in a production environment.

Responsibilities

• Review designs with the Head Design Engineer to ensure manufacturability and proper assembly intent.
• Build first builds, prototypes, and complex assemblies by interpreting drawings and specs, creating repeatable instructions.
• Identify design and process concerns early and propose practical solutions to Engineering and Operations.
• Serve as the senior technical resource for assemblers on design-related questions and build sequence.
