Job summary

SimPL Freight Solutions seeks an experienced Manager of LTL Strategy and Procurement to lead and optimize our Less-Than-Truckload capabilities for a diverse customer portfolio. This hands-on role focuses on carrier sourcing, pricing, contract negotiations, routing, and performance management to build a scalable LTL practice.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of LTL transportation experience across carrier management, pricing, procurement, managed transportation, or 3PLs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead SimPL's overall LTL strategy across our managed transportation customer portfolio.
• Evaluate customer LTL networks and identify opportunities to improve cost, service, carrier mix, routing, and mode selection.
• Build and maintain relationships with national, regional, and specialized LTL carriers.
• Lead carrier sourcing, RFPs, negotiations, contracting, and business reviews.
• Negotiate competitive rates, discounts, minimum charges, FAK structures, and accessorial schedules.
• Develop carrier-selection strategies based on geography, freight characteristics, service requirements, capacity, and shipment volume.
• Analyze shipment-level data and carrier agreements to identify savings and service improvements.
• Establish standardized procedures for routing, execution, exceptions, charges, and billing discrepancies.
• Monitor carrier and customer performance including pickup, transit, on-time delivery, damage, claims, and billing accuracy.
• Partner with Operations and carriers to address recurring service issues and root causes.
• Work with technology teams to improve LTL rating, tendering, tracking, invoicing, and reporting.
• Develop LTL scorecards, dashboards, and reporting for customers and leadership.
• Serve as LTL subject-matter expert in meetings, implementations, and business development.
