Description

Structured Cabling | Access Control | Video Surveillance | Audio Visual

San Antonio, Texas · Full Time · Field Based · Travel Required · Company Vehicle Provided

Company Overview

Bridgehead IT is a San Antonio technology firm dedicated to helping organizations use technology to reach their business goals. Our ICT team builds the physical infrastructure our clients run on: structured cabling and fiber, access control, video surveillance, and audio visual systems across commercial, healthcare, education, and government sites throughout Texas.

As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Senior Low Voltage Technician to lead installations in the field.

Role Overview

The Senior Low Voltage Technician installs and commissions structured cabling, access control, video surveillance, and audio visual systems at client sites across Texas, and is accountable for the quality and completion of each assigned installation.

This role works from construction drawings and project documentation with limited supervision, leads the installation crew on assigned projects, and coordinates on site with clients, general contractors, and other trades. Success requires strong installation craftsmanship, sound judgment in the field, and the discipline to keep a project moving, documented, and safe.

Travel and Schedule

Work is performed at client sites throughout San Antonio, Austin, Houston, and other locations across Texas. Travel to surrounding states may be required based on project needs. This is a field based role that may require overnight travel, early starts, after hours work, and overtime to meet project schedules. A company vehicle is provided.

What You'll Own & Drive
Installation

Deliver the installation from rough-in through finish. Responsibilities include:

  • Installing, terminating, and dressing copper and fiber structured cabling, including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, and single and multimode fiber
  • Building and finishing telecommunications rooms: backboards, racks, cable management, patch panels, cross connects, and fiber enclosures
  • Installing access control, video surveillance, and audio visual devices, and confirming each system operates as designed
  • Installing pathway and support systems, including cable tray, J-hooks, D-rings, bridle rings, sleeves, and core penetrations
  • Grounding and bonding racks and equipment, and firestopping rated penetrations using the approved assembly
Testing, Documentation, and Turnover

Verify the work and complete project closeout:

  • Testing and certifying installed copper and fiber cabling using approved test equipment; documenting results and correcting deficiencies before turnover
  • Labeling cable and equipment and producing accurate as-built documentation
  • Conducting client walkthroughs and system demonstrations as assigned, and closing out open items before leaving the site
  • Completing all required field and project documentation accurately and on schedule, including timesheets, material and tool transfers, work orders, change orders, installation checklists, and vehicle inspection reports
Crew and Job Site Leadership

Lead the installation crew on assigned projects:

  • Directing the daily work of assigned technicians, including work sequencing, task assignment, and quality expectations
  • Coordinating on site with clients, general contractors, and other trades
  • Reviewing completed work against project specifications and correcting deficiencies before turnover
  • Communicating progress, obstacles, material needs, and schedule risk to project management
Safety and Site Conduct

Work safely and represent Bridgehead IT well on client property:

  • Working to the Bridgehead IT ICT Safety Program, the Driving Company Vehicles Policy, and each client’s site safety requirements
  • Performing ladder, lift, and elevated work safely, and stopping work when conditions are not safe
  • Reporting incidents, near misses, hazards, and equipment problems the same day
Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven copper and fiber termination, testing, and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience leading a small installation crew on an active job site
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Trade school, apprenticeship, or military technical training is a plus
