Job summary

Penn National Insurance is seeking a Senior Loss Control Consultant to conduct loss control surveys on-site and via virtual meetings for prospective and written commercial lines accounts within a designated geographic territory. The role involves evaluating hazards, ensuring compliance with OSHA and related standards, delivering loss control consulting, and supporting underwriting with field assessments.

Travel within Alabama is required, and residence in the territory (Birmingham or Montgomery

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety, science or engineering preferred.
• 4 years in property/casualty loss control required, handling larger and more complex accounts.
• Continuing education through specialty courses such as Associate in Loss Control Management (ALCM) and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and certifications such as ASP, CSP, CIH or OHST preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handles the large and/or more complex accounts.
• Complete all required reports and documentation pertaining to account visits, to assist underwriting staff.
• Visit accounts’ facilities to understand operations, hazards/exposures and safety programs.
• Determines compliance based on OSHA, NFPA, DOT, ANSI and local codes.
• Conducts agency visits to promote loss control services and initiatives.
• Provide loss control consulting for written accounts, including on-site training.
