Job summary

Penn National Insurance seeks a Loss Control Consultant to perform on-site surveys and virtual meetings for commercial lines within Alabama, to understand operations and reduce hazards. The role focuses on assessing safety programs, compliance with OSHA and related codes, and providing consulting services to improve risk management.

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in safety, science or engineering and relevant loss control experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, with a major in safety, science or engineering preferred.
• Continuing education through specialty courses such as ALCM and ARM and certifications such as ASP, CSP, CIH or OHST preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete all required reports and documentation pertaining to account visits, to assist underwriting in determining risk viability.
• Visit accounts’ facilities to understand operations, hazards, exposures and assess safety programs.
• Determine compliance based on OSHA, NFPA, DOT, ANSI and state/local codes.
• Provide loss control consulting services for written accounts, including on-site training if needed.
• Perform basic Industrial Hygiene and Health surveys and noise/ergonomic assessments.
