Job summary

Gulf Stream Marine, Inc. seeks a Longshoreman III to perform advanced cargo handling in vessel holds and terminal operations. The ideal candidate has substantial experience and specialized training, working with minimal supervision and mentoring junior staff.

You will secure cargo, operate PIT equipment, and ensure safe stowage per procedures, focusing on high‑risk environments and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Experience in vessel hold operations and advanced cargo handling.
Specialized training in PIT operation, cargo securing, and equipment use.
Proficiency with forklifts, yard mules, chain saws, and chop saws.
Strong understanding of cargo stowage principles and safety standards.
Physical ability to perform demanding tasks in varying environments.
Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

Hook cargoes in the hold for unloading and unhooking during loading.
Understand cargo stowage, dunnage and securing requirements.
Operate PIT’s for stowing cargo on the vessel with a Small Forklift or Yard Mule.
Proficient with chain and chop saws and securing cargo with lashings.
Safely remove lashings/securements and visually inspect lifting gear.
Maintain a clean, safe work area.
