Job summary

Gulf Stream Marine is seeking a Longshoreman IV for senior labor within terminal and vessel operations. You will lead crews, plan, coordinate, and execute cargo handling with high safety standards and minimal supervision.

Expect to work outdoors in terminal settings with PPE. You may serve as assistant to the Gang Foreman and lead the gang in their absence, ensuring smooth, safe operations and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in vessel and terminal operations, including hold work and cargo securing.
• Advanced training in equipment operation, safety procedures, and cargo handling techniques.
• Proven ability to lead teams and follow complex operational plans.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Hook cargoes in vessel holds.
• Operate powered industrial trucks (PITs) for cargo stowage.
• Use chainsaws and chop saws for cargo preparation and securing.
• Secure cargo with lashings and carpentry techniques; safely remove lashings.
• Signal crane operators to coordinate safe cargo movement.
• Follow vessel loading and discharge plans with precision.
• Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and standards.
• Work independently with minimal supervision and accountability.
• Assist Gang Foreman and act as right-hand in crew coordination.
• Lead the gang in the absence of the Gang Foreman.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment and address hazards proactively.
