Gulf Stream Marine, an Enstructure Company, is seeking a Longshoreman to support terminal and stevedoring operations. You will monitor, count, verify, and document cargo movements across vessel, warehouse, and trucking flows, ensuring proper handling and accurate documentation throughout the process.

The role requires hands-on experience with cargo stowage, specialized equipment, and safety practices in high-risk environments.

Qualifications

• Experience in vessel hold operations and advanced cargo handling.
• Completion of specialized PIT operation, cargo securing, and equipment use training.
• Ability to operate forklifts, yard mules, chain saws, and chop saws.
• Knowledge of cargo stowage principles and safety standards.
• Able to work independently or in a team with a strong safety focus.

Responsabilités

• Hooking on cargoes in the hold for unloading and unhooking during loading onto the vessel.
• Understand cargo stowage, dunnage and securing requirements.
• Operate PIT’s stowing cargo on the vessel - Small Forklift or Yard Mule.
• Operate chain and chop saws safely.
• Secure cargo with lashings and carpentry, and remove lashings securely.
• Visually inspect the lifting gear.
• Maintain a clean work area.

Overview

In this hands-on role, you’ll play an important part in keeping our terminal and stevedoring operations safe, accurate, and efficient. You’ll monitor, count, verify, and document cargo movements across vessel, warehouse, and trucking operations while helping ensure cargo is properly handled, accounted for, and documented throughout the process.

The Longshoreman position involves advanced labor tasks in vessel holds and terminal operations. Employees are expected to have substantial experience and specialized training to perform complex cargo handling, equipment operation, and securing procedures. The role demands a strong understanding of cargo stowage and safety practices in high-risk environments. Proficient in a wide range of tasks and tools. Capable of troubleshooting common issues and making minor adjustments. Works with minimal supervision and contributes to process improvements.

Must have an ACTIVE TWIC card

Qualifications

Demonstrated experience in vessel hold operations and advanced cargo handling. Completion of specialized training in PIT operation, cargo securing, and equipment use. Proficiency in operating forklifts, yard mules, chain saws, and chop saws. Strong understanding of cargo stowage principles and safety standards. Physical ability to perform demanding tasks in varied environmental conditions. Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Outdoor terminal and warehouse settings. Exposure to varying weather conditions, heavy machinery, and cargo handling equipment. Requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Working at heights, within enclosed spaces, in noisy environments with moving equipment, and in adverse climatic conditions. Informing the supervisor of damaged or unsafe cargo.
