Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks a Training & Dev Specialist VI to travel statewide and lead advanced training for surveyors in long-term care orientation programs. The role supervises field staff, develops regional educational programs, and designs learning objectives with minimal supervision.

You will oversee training field experiences, coordinate with CAT, and manage multiple projects while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in nursing, social work, nutrition, gerontology, or related field is preferred.
• 24 months current experience in a Long-term Care Regulation (LTCR) as an Intermediate Care Facilities staff is required.
• Experience with Adult Learning Principles is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision of field surveyors and guidance on implementation and compliance with state and federal regulations for long-term care facilities (25%).
• Provide guidance on personnel policies; implement and ensure compliance with personnel procedures and inform management of sensitive issues.
• Provide field supervision and interpretation of regulations, protocols, and documentation practices to survey staff and industry.
• Monitor and evaluate training programs; identify issues and provide additional training as needed; participate in training for all staff.
• Perform administrative duties: complete evaluations for new surveyors, address non-performance issues, and coordinate with Curriculum and Training (CAT).
