Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking an Architect IV to perform advanced architectural work, lead long‑term care inspections, and ensure compliance with state licensure and federal certification requirements across West Texas facilities.

Under supervision of the Director, this role conducts surveys, prepares reports, and provides expert guidance on life safety code regulations, with extensive travel and on-call duties as needed.

Qualifications

Architectural work experience focusing on code compliance and surveys.
Licensed architect with Texas registration or equivalent.
Ability to interpret life safety codes and related regulations.
Willingness to travel up to 80% within the region and across Texas.

Responsibilities

Conduct on-site licensure inspections and annual surveys.
Prepare detailed deficiency reports and supporting narratives.
Lead and coordinate survey teams; provide technical guidance.
Assist with regulatory determinations and policy interpretation.
Coordinate travel and onsite inspections across multiple facilities.
Respond to emergencies and be on-call for high-priority situations.
