POSITION SUMMARY: The POS Sr. Logistics Specialist manages Freight Budgets, Distribution Lists, Tracking, and Reconciliation for nearly 1,000,000 shipments annually. Daily tasks include routing LTL/FTL/Parcel shipments between print locations, project-based tracking for multiple Project Managers, and strategic planning of package and pallet sizes to provide freight estimates and maintain a 98% on-time delivery rate.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The main responsibilities involve sourcing transportation for DC, Small Package, Bulk, and Consolidation distributions.

DC Shipments

• Create freight budgets
• Recruit and manage carrier base
• Use industry knowledge to monitor market pricing and seasonal trends for competitive rates
• Coordinate with carriers on mode selection (Less than Truckload, Truckload, Intermodal, etc.)
• Collaborate with printers on pallet configurations to optimize trailer space
• Perform warehouse P.O. audits and provide daily service reports
• Conduct transportation bids periodically for competitive pricing
• Review service and pricing trends semi-annually with 3PLs
• Address carrier performance issues and implement corrective actions

Small Package Shipments

• Create freight budgets
• Advise on small package contract details to avoid unnecessary costs
• Develop expertise in Small Package contracts and service standards
• Assist with bids for UPS/FEDEX
• Work with project managers and vendors to reduce shipping carton costs
• Create distribution lists, monitor daily service, and handle reships
• Coordinate with accounting for billing and payments
• Support director with global vendor interactions and quarterly business reviews

Consolidation Programs

• Provide advisory support for location selection to optimize pricing and equipment
• Collaborate with printers, carriers, and clients on pallet and product footprint strategies
• Create master consolidation pick sheets and load plans
• Implement transportation bids, select carriers, and assign programs
• Monitor daily operations and report on service levels
• Maintain project records and service metrics
• Consult with design teams on cost-related aspects of projects
• Manage large DC projects on-site, offering suggestions for improvements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School Diploma
