Job summary

M/I Homes is seeking a Mortgage Loan Specialist to process documentation for FHA, VA and Conventional loan applications and prepare packages for loan approval. The role may supervise and guide other loan specialists.

Responsibilities include interviewing applicants, gathering and processing financial documents, and coordinating with underwriters to ensure timely submission. Some weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in finance or mortgage lending with 2–4 years of experience in a mortgage lending/finance environment.
• Some supervisory experience preferred.
• Must have recent purchasing processing experience.
• Customer-service oriented with good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to elicit, interpret, analyze and evaluate information relative to underwriting guidelines.

Job Summary:

• Communicates with applicant(s), underwriters and/or creditors to resolve problems or questions regarding application information.
• Interfaces with team members to assist the Branch Manager and Loan Officers to process loan.
• May supervise and lead the work of others.

Requirements

Minimum Education Experience:

Associate’s Degree in finance or mortgage lending with at least 2 to 4 years of experience in a mortgage lending/finance environment. Some supervisory experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

• Must have recent purchasing processing experience.
• Customer-service oriented with good verbal and written communication skills for interaction with a variety of people inside and outside of the organization.
• Ability to elicit, interpret, analyze, and evaluate given information relative to underwriting guidelines and lender requirements.
• Excellent organization skills and detail-oriented aptitude.
• Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and timeliness are of the essence.
• Excellent mathematical skills and calculator abilities.
• Must be able to lead the work of others.
