Job summary

Global Medical Response is seeking a Communications System Engineer based in California to support, maintain, and improve land mobile radio, RoIP, and dispatch radio infrastructure across field operations and IT. The role requires hands-on work at tower sites, dispatch centers, hospitals, and field locations with travel up to 50-75%.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in LMR support, radio programming, networking, and FCC licensing coordination, with a strong focus on public safety and aviation

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of wireless communication technician experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Vocational training in wireless communications systems and electronics.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot LMR systems, repeaters, base stations, and dispatch consoles.
• Monitor and resolve radio system outages affecting EMS and dispatch operations.
• Perform radio testing, coverage validation, and post-maintenance verification.
• Travel to tower sites, dispatch facilities, hospitals, and field locations for inspections and repairs.
• Coordinate repairs with tower owners, contractors, vendors, and service providers.
• Configure and maintain WAVE, RoIP, ESChat, and related technologies.
• Program radios, talk groups, channels, and user permissions; manage templates.
• Maintain documentation and CMDB records; participate in incident response and escalation.
