Job summary

Carlton Senior Living in Davis, CA is seeking a dedicated Sous Chef to lead daily kitchen operations under the direction of the Executive Chef and ensure high culinary standards.

You will supervise staff, train cooks, oversee food preparation and safety, coordinate deliveries, and help maintain a welcoming dining experience for residents; schedule Sunday through Thursday, 10:30am–6:30pm; compensation $23–$26 per hour plus benefits.

Qualifications

• Must be at least eighteen (18) years or older, per Title 22 requirements.
• At least two (2) years of culinary experience.
• Formal culinary training or degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Chef in managing daily kitchen operations by supervising staff, coordinating deliveries, and properly handling meats, produce, and baked goods.
• Train and mentor line cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashers to uphold kitchen standards.
• Ensure and maintain strict compliance with food safety, sanitation, and company policies.
• Oversee food preparation, including measuring, cooking, seasoning, and plating.
• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes by following standardized recipes, ensuring proper seasoning, doneness, and presentation.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in all kitchen areas while efficiently managing food inventory and production prep.
• Support safety protocols, emergency plans, and elopement prevention practices.
• Foster a warm, collaborative atmosphere with residents, families, and team members.
