Job summary

Carlton Senior Living in Elk Grove is hiring a Sous Chef to help manage daily kitchen operations, supervise staff, coordinate deliveries, and ensure proper handling of meats, produce, and baked goods. You will train and mentor line cooks and dishwashers, uphold food safety and sanitation standards, oversee food preparation from measure to plating, and maintain inventory.

Qualifications

• Must be at least eighteen (18) years or older
• At least two (2) years of culinary experience
• Formal culinary training or degree preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist the Chef in managing daily kitchen operations by supervising staff, coordinating deliveries, and properly handling meats, produce, and baked goods.
• Train and mentor line cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashers to uphold kitchen standards.
• Ensure and maintain strict compliance with food safety, sanitation, and company policies.
• Oversee food preparation, including measuring, cooking, seasoning, and plating.
• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes by following standardized recipes, ensuring proper seasoning, doneness, and presentation.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in all kitchen areas while efficiently managing food inventory and production prep.
• Support safety protocols, emergency plans, and elopement prevention practices.
• Foster a warm, collaborative atmosphere with residents, families, and team members.
