Job summary

Cedarhurst Senior Living is seeking a Director of Nursing to lead clinical operations, ensure safe, high-quality care, and drive regulatory readiness within the community. You will oversee nurses, CNAs, and medication staff, foster professional development, and partner with families and surveyors to maintain compliance.

The role emphasizes person-centered care, staff mentorship, and collaboration across interdisciplinary teams to support residents’ dignity, independence, and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with a current, active state license as an LPN or RN is required.
• A minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience is preferred.
• CPR or BLS certification preferred.
• Working knowledge of person-directed care practices for seniors and dementia.
• Experience with preadmission assessments, staff training, and education to staff, residents, and families.
• Experience in a similar role within a senior living community or healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee delivery of quality care and services in compliance with care plans and assessments.
• Develop nursing service objectives, policies, and procedures aligned with regulations.
• Maintain a safe working environment and safe practices.
• Provide nursing coverage and assistance as needed.
• Assess residents for appropriate levels of care.
• Manage and coordinate nursing and care staff.
• Oversee medications for self-administering residents if applicable.
• Oversee pharmacy and community relationships; ensure timely delivery and accurate eMAR.
• Attend interdisciplinary resident care meetings and maintain documentation.
• Interview, hire, train, supervise, and retain a high-performing care team.
• Conduct service plan meetings with residents and families.
• Communicate with surveyors during IDPH surveys and assist with plans of corrections.
• Implement ISPs and infection control policies; ensure CLIA waiver compliance.
• Inventory and order nursing supplies; control costs.
• Support occupancy initiatives and promote resident wellbeing and independence.
• Respect advance directives and family communication.
• Collaborate with management and colleagues; resolve conflicts.
• Other duties as assigned.
