Cedarhurst Senior Living is seeking a Director of Nursing to lead clinical operations with a focus on safe, high-quality, person-centered care. The role manages the clinical team and partnerships with families to implement individualized service plans and ensure regulatory readiness.

The position emphasizes compliance with state and federal standards, quality assurance, and continuous professional development within a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with a current, active state license as an LPN or RN is required.
• A minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience is preferred.
• CPR or BLS certification preferred.
• Working knowledge of best person-directed care practices for seniors, including those with dementia preferred.
• Experience in a similar role, preferably within a senior living community or healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the delivery of quality care and services to residents in compliance with care plans and resident assessments.
• Develop and implement nursing service objectives, policies, and procedures per Federal and State regulations.
• Maintain a safe working environment and safe practices.
• Provide nursing coverage and assistance when needed.
• Assess residents for appropriate levels of care with urgency.
• Manage and coordinate the work of nursing and care staff; communicate health and safety information.
• Supervise medications for residents who self-administer if applicable.
• Oversee pharmacy and community relationships; ensure timely medication delivery and accurate eMAR.
• Prepare interim documentation for resident files and attend interdisciplinary meetings.
• Direct the clinical department, including RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and medication technicians.
• Interview, hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and retain a high-performing team.
• Hold service plan meetings with residents and families.
• Interact with surveyors during IDPH surveys and assist with plans of corrections.
• Implement and maintain ISPs and infection control policies.
• Ensure compliance with CLIA waivers and inventory management.
• Engage in occupancy efforts while prioritizing resident well-being.
• Promote resident wellbeing and maximize independence when possible.
• Understand Advance Directives and respect residents' wishes.
